The rising star in the gypsum industry - SGT method alpha high-strength gypsum
β - hemihydrate gypsum can be obtained by atmospheric pressure calcination of dihydrate gypsum, and α - hemihydrate gypsum (also known as high-strength gypsum) can be formed by closed pressure dehydration crystallization.
The industrial preparation process of alpha gypsum mainly includes: steam pressure method and pressurized aqueous solution method. These two methods require large investment, high production costs, unstable product quality, and do not meet the requirements of energy conservation, environmental protection, efficiency, and competition in the new situation.
To address the challenge of high cost and low efficiency in traditional methods and promote the high-quality development of the entire gypsum industry, Hubei Zhengxianda Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. and Hubei Zhimeitang Gypsum New Technology Co., Ltd. jointly developed the "Alpha Gypsum Crystal Autoclave Growth and Transformation Technology" (SGT method for short). The SGT method has the advantages of simple process, stable product quality, low investment cost, and low operating cost compared to traditional alpha gypsum preparation methods.
The SGT method results in coarse and short columnar crystals of α - hemihydrate gypsum with clear contours (see Figure 1). Its gel hardening body has high strength, with a 2-hour flexural and drying compressive strength that meets the alpha 40 strength grade in the building materials industry standard JC/T 2038-2010 (see Table 1 for various technical parameters).

The key crystal transformation technology of SGT method is completed at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, with Zhimei Tang responsible for the process, testing and application, and Zhengxianda responsible for equipment manufacturing and quality control. At present, the first 20000 ton alpha gypsum production line has been officially put into operation in Jingmen.
The development of high-strength alpha gypsum technology is very fast, and the SGT method will further change the industry's appearance, injecting new vitality into the high-quality development of building decoration substrates.
